Why put an insert into a wood fireplace I already have?
An open masonry fireplace sends most of its heat up the chimney. A wood insert is a sealed, efficient stove built to sit inside that opening, so you keep burning wood and start keeping the heat.
Does a wood insert need a chimney liner?
Yes. A stainless liner runs from the insert to the top of the chimney so the unit drafts properly and burns safely. It's part of every wood insert installation we do.
